FAQ

What is chiropractic?

This field of medicine focuses on the diagnosis and natural, non-surgical treatment of conditions relating to the body structure, especially the spine.

Why should I believe in chiropractic?

Although we hear this frequently, it is not actually applicable, because chiropractic is a sound healing practice, not a belief system. It has been practiced since 1895, and there are countless scientific studies to prove its effectiveness. If you have been told otherwise, then you have been misinformed.

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

In most cases, the answer is “No!” If your pain is so severe that it hurts to move or be touched, there will naturally be discomfort associated with entering the office and preparing for treatment. However, the adjustments should relieve, not cause, pain. If you have experienced painful chiropractic care in the past, then your practitioner may have chosen the wrong treatment, or perhaps he or she was not properly qualified in the technique.
Although many people are aware that chiropractic treatment can archive amazing results for back and neck pain, only few people realize that there are literally hundreds of different techniques. Why is that important to you? If you were to visit two different chiropractic practices on the same street, you will likely receive two entirely different treatments, and equally different results. Unfortunately, many people assume that chiropractic does not work if they visit one practitioner without success.
Judging the entire profession and healing philosophy on a single ineffective treatment can lead a person to suffer unnecessarily with chronic pain when help is available. This is actually an illogical way of thinking. We all know that dentists are different; one might ruin your teeth, but another could repair the damage and give you a Hollywood smile. High quality plastic surgeons are frequently called upon to correct the “butcher” job of another plastic surgeon. Yet people do not dismiss the validity of these medical practices simply because there are a few bad ones. Do yourself a favor, and give chiropractic a chance (or a second chance).

Will I have to keep seeing my chiropractor for the rest of my life?

No. Our goal is to correct the problem and get you out of pain. If another practitioner told you that you would need maintenance treatments forever, you may want to consider a new chiropractor.

How do I know if you can help me?

As always, we will be perfectly honest. The only way to find out is to try. We cannot guarantee results. We can evaluate you and tell you if you are a good candidate for our program. We can also tell you that most patients enjoy exceptional results from our system, which is quite possibly one-of-a-kind. You may be lucky enough to find another chiropractic who has gone to the same great lengths to devise a system capable of reliving such an extensive range of back and neck pains, but we have not come across one yet.
Our system may be able to bring relief for some or all of your pain, even in challenging situations.
  • Long-term chronic pain may take a little more time to relive, but the results are still excellent.
  • Previous back surgery that failed to relieve your pain, or made it worse, does not exclude you from treatment. We have had excellent results in these situations.
  • Age is not a factor, and no case is hopeless!

My pain is minor. It will go away on its own, won’t it?

Usually the answer is “no.” Research has shown that three out of four back pain sufferers who consult a doctor but do not have treatment will still have back pain one year later. There is also the risk of the pain becoming worse, sometimes dramatically so. Just think of a minor toothache. If you ignore it, the pain might fade, but it nearly always comes back. A problem that could have been repaired with a simple filling suddenly requires a root canal and many thousands of dollars in restoration.

Why would I visit you if my insurance or HMO won’t cover treatment?

Your concern about insurance coverage is perfectly reasonable, and we will give you an honest answer. Insurance companies are not in the business of healing people, they are in the business of making profit. We give our patients the best available care, to the best of our abilities. We will not compromise those principles to comply with any providers regulations. If our practice is excluded from your HMO’s list, it was by our choice because participation would have inhibited the standard of care we insist on providing.
It is often said that you get what you pay for, and sometimes that holds very true. This isn’t the cheapest chiropractic in town, but we believe that you deserve better than cheap. We strive to keep costs as low as possible through efficient practices and minimizing profits, but we will not cut corners. Treatment may seem expensive, but it is not possible to put a price on the opportunity to live your life free from pain.
You healthcare is your decision. We strive to provide the best possible value for every dollar you spend, but if you choose to cut corners at the cost of your own health and well-being, that is your right. Additionally, you should be aware that our program is likely not right for you if you are unwilling to take responsibility for your own healthcare.
